Founder's Corner
Kalavai is the creative edge of Chindu, an engineer turned designer who always had a leaning towards fashion and crafts from an early age. After completing her post-graduation in fashion management from NIFT and working for some years as a designer, In September 2019 the idea of launching a brand struck her. Thus, KALAVAI Meaning melange/assorted in Tamil became fully operational on May 14th 2020. The initial line is an ode to nature’s finesse by meticulously fossilizing organic bits in resin. Each and every piece in her collections are painstakingly handcrafted by her. She has been always beguiled by nature’s flora and other forms like fungi and moss. All those mother nature’s gifts spurred her imagination to bring out the best with her artistic sensibilities.
From her birth flower inspired logo(Blue Bells) to the creation of the handmade jewels, each aspect is delicately drafted at her home situated in Kochi, Kerala. She chose to position her brand as an umbrella branding concept, which would be housing many product ranges in near future.
